IMPORTANCE OF THE NORTH OF ANTIOQUIA FOR THE CITY OF MEDELLIN AND THE VALLEY OF ABURRA:

        In the Highlands of the North of the Department of Antioquia, which include the    municipality of Sta. Rosa                  de Osos, is where water is poured, the water that generates, downstream, a very high percentage (%) of electric power, through the implementation of power plants.

          Many flows of the North Altiplano are used as drinking water supplies for the Valley of Aburra.

          Thanks to the multiple currents of wind moving from North to South, large masses of  cleansed air  by   forests        remaining in the North plateau; the Valley of Aburra receives on a daily basis important flows of fresh, oxygenated air that helps breaking the thermal compression that sits and encapsulates the place, giving the inhabitants of the metropolitan area and the entire Valley of Aburra in general health and well-being.

        North Highlands is the water reserve of the Valley of Aburra. -Drinking water and hydropower-.
