GUANACAS

An Indigenous term meaning 'sacred water over stone.'

Guanacas is the name of one of the rural settlements where our reserve is located, as well as the name of the mountain ridge that crosses it and the main watercourse that flows through it.

FULFILLING DREAMS

1990

Our founder is allocating a 120-hectare property in Santa Rosa de Osos for the conservation of wild fauna and flora.

2007

We formally established ourselves as Fundación Guanacas Bosques de Niebla, a non-profit organization, registered with the Medellín Chamber of Commerce.

2016

Our team is strengthened, and we begin implementing mandatory environmental compensation projects.

2008

The first forest-guardian families join us, becoming stewards of conservation and protectors of the territory.

2020

We consolidate a conservation landscape of more than 1,500 hectares, connected to the Municipal Reserve of Santa Rosa de Osos.

2022

Wildlife release, inventory strengthening, and conservation actions.

2025

We obtained our National Tourism Registry (RNT), through which Guanacas operates as an open-air classroom that seamlessly integrates theoretical knowledge with hands-on experiences.
